Carbon Accounting Essentials

The Carbon Accounting Essentials course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed to measure, manage, and mitigate carbon footprints. The course provides a comprehensive understanding of carbon accounting, including the principles and frameworks of carbon accounting, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and their sources, measurement methodologies, and more.

• What carbon accounting is and the role businesses play in today’s climate crisis
• The regulatory frameworks and international agreements related to carbon accounting
• The science behind climate change, greenhouse gasses, and the greenhouse gas effect
• The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) and how to get started with quantifying GHG emissions
• The importance of establishing inventory boundaries to create an accurate GHG emissions footprint
• How an organization’s emissions break down into scope 1, 2, and 3, and the impact of measuring all three scopes
