Getting to Know Persefoni: Meet Blake Blackwell

Share:
Article Overview

Tell us about your role and what do you hope to achieve/accomplish?

I am a Director of Platform Architecture here at Persefoni. My role is focused on helping build new features and ensure they work smoothly for our customers. This happens in a number of ways - some days I'm engaging with Product and Design, and the next I'm working closely with our Engineers to think through the complexities of the code, data structures, and underlying cloud infrastructure. Creating a global SaaS product(s) is never boring, and there are always new challenges to overcome! While at Persefoni, I hope to create satisfying experiences for our customers while hopefully simplifying some of the technical complexity of such a new product area.  It can be challenging when there isn't a blueprint, but I hope to help in whatever ways I can!

What is it about being a Persefonite that keeps you motivated to do your best work, even on the hard days?

I enjoy working on difficult problems with fun people. Often a job can seem like just that, a job. But when you get to work with motivated, bright people on hard things it can bring out the best in me and hopefully I can spur others on to push themselves to build with high quality!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like to be outdoors. That includes cycling, hiking, walking and going on adventures with my family.

What achievement are you most proud of from the entirety of their tenure here?

I love building systems that endure. I've been here 3 years now, and some of my better system architectures have endured as well as a lot of architectures that we are now working to improve. To me - the achievements that mean the most are the things I helped build that will last for years to come!

What book are you currently reading (or listening to)?

I love podcasts!  My favorite podcast is one called Nateland which has 4 comedians that I relate a lot too. But, I also listen to an economics podcast called Planet Money to help go to sleep at night.
