Getting to know Persefoni: Meet Poornima Farrar

1. And you may ask yourself, "Well... how did I get here?" (Tell us your journey?)

For me, it has always been about recognizing patterns in data and creating actionable insights. I started my journey in the US at a liberal arts college in PA where I obtained my Computer Science degree. From there I blended my passion for languages and technology at SUNY Buffalo and obtained MS in Computational Linguistics and PhD in Linguistics. Since then, I have worked in leadership roles at world-class enterprise SaaS companies (Salesforce, Workday, Alteryx) building and leading product teams, as well as creating and then scaling products that solved real-customer pain points for millions of users.

My husband and I have been living in Colorado for nearly 10 years, and in that time the effects of climate change continues to be felt more and more acutely. A few years ago, our entire neighborhood was evacuated on account of a wildfire and we were given 20 minutes notice. That experience brought a new reality to my doorsteps. Subsequently, in another wildfire, several friends lost their properties; for many others, the impact has been even worse. I began looking for a way to get more involved in this space, and apparently the universe was listening. Persefoni reached out to offer me an opportunity to join the journey.

2. And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile. (What do you do at Persefoni?)

I am the VP & Head of Product at Persefoni where I lead a world-class team across Product Management, Product Marketing, Climate Analytics and User Experience (including Product Design). We spend our time laser focused on building the best climate management product on the planet. My time is split between understanding our customer’s journey and pain points, working closely with the C-suite in setting strategy and direction, and empowering teams to execute against our roadmap.

3. And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?" (What are your hopes for your time at Persefoni?)

The time to address the global climate crisis is now! Carbon is a global problem and needs a global solution. At Persefoni, we are building a scalable product. Our platform-first approach allows us to serve our customers’ needs quickly and efficiently. My hope is to see Persefoni serve businesses in every industry and region understand their data and facilitate their decarbonization strategy so that as a society, we make actual measurable progress towards Paris goals.

4. And you may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?" (Why is Persefoni a great home for you?)

Building a world-class next generation SaaS product in ClimateTech is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. When I met the co-founders at Persefoni, I found myself immediately at home. During the interview process, I discovered that Persefoni’s core values and operating principles align closely with my own values. Unlike a ‘traditional’ technology organization, Persefonites come from a variety of industries. As a company, our journey is unique in that instead of thinking in traditional paradigms of software and product development, we think creatively about blending the best ideas from different industries and bringing it together to deliver customer results.

5. And you may find yourself in another part of the world... (Tell us about your life/hobbies away from work?)

I love to travel and find it the best way to reset and gain perspective. When I am home, I am generally exploring Colorado trails in order to hone my skills as an amateur photographer, reading, or improving my cooking & baking skills. But, as new parents, our lives have recently changed. So my response may be different next time!
