Getting to know Persefoni: Meet Mili Patel

And you may ask yourself, “Well…how did I get here?” (tell us your journey?)

Growing up in Queens, NY/Long Island, I absolutely loved living in a place where there was an abundance of different cultures, languages, people, and cuisine. It really shaped my view of how dynamic the world is and how nature fits into a more urban setting.

Even though I grew up seeing skyscrapers instead of mountains, my parents at an early age instilled in me a love of nature. We used to explore local nature preserves in Long Island, watch National Geographic documentaries, and go camping (sometimes at a campsite in the Poconos but mostly in our backyard).

In 2nd grade, I chose green to be my favorite color because it was the color of trees & nature, and in 11th grade, I took an AP Environmental course knowing that I wanted to work in the environmental/sustainability field.

At that time, no one knew how I would get a job in a field that hadn't emerged yet, but I trusted my gut and let my passion lead me into my sustainability career.

I am lucky that I have worked at incredible mission-driven organizations with a career focused on helping preserve the planet.

And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile. (What do you do at Persefoni?)

I am a proud member of the Product Marketing team at Persefoni. As a product marketer, I am lucky to collaborate with a group of talented people that work in product, sales, sales enablement, marketing, and partnerships. Engaging with all these different groups helps me better understand what motivates organizations to invest in ClimateTech solutions, identify market trends, and share how Persefoni’s Climate Management and Accounting platform helps organizations calculate and manage their carbon footprint.

And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?" (What are your hopes for your time at Persefoni?)

I am hoping to build a world-class product marketing strategy/team and have Persefoni’s technology be the software of choice for all enterprises and financial institutions. My whole career has been focused on sustainability and carbon management and I know Persefoni can really help solve the complex, global problem of climate change.

As a former carbon analyst that helped fortune 500 companies calculate their carbon footprint, Persefoni is absolutely the right place for me. Not only do I get to work with passionate and driven people, but I also get to see first-hand how the carbon accounting space has evolved. From only a few people even knowing the term carbon accounting to then, companies calculating their carbon footprint in excel to now, having a SAAS product that makes it simple and intuitive for organizations to calculate their carbon footprint - Persefoni combines my passion and expertise which elevates me to the next step in my career.

And you may find yourself in another part of the world... (Tell us about your life/hobbies away from work?)

Living in the PNW, I get to live my childhood dream of exploring nature, going on hikes, and camping in a real forest. Over the summer, I bought a standup paddleboard and tried to find any opportunity to get on the water and enjoy the views.

When I am not enjoying the outdoors my number one passion is traveling and learning about different cultures. As a first-generation American, diversity is important to me and I love wandering the world and meeting people from all walks of life, trying different cuisines, and immersing myself in that city or country.

When the rainy months come in the PNW, you will find me doing any and all types of arts and crafts. Currently, I am most obsessed with macrame and trying to be a watercolor painter.
