Tempe, Ariz., January 19, 2022 — Persefoni, the leading Climate Management & Accounting Platform (CMAP) for enterprises and financial institutions, today announced a material product release with the general availability of their category-creating Climate Management & Accounting Platform (CMAP) software translated into Japanese. Persefoni is now first-to-market with a Japanese-language product for large enterprises and financial institutions that covers Scopes 1, 2, and 3, as well as financed emissions.

Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) intends to make climate disclosures mandatory for companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s new “Prime” market, which is expected to impact more than 1,800 companies. Firms in this Prime market will be required to make disclosures in accordance with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) beginning in April 2022.

Persefoni’s CMAP solution has codified these TCFD requirements, and its Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB) includes Curtis Ravenel, the current Secretariat of the TCFD, and Miho Kurosaki, member of the Sustainable Finance Working Group of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

“The Japanese Government is demonstrating both strong global climate leadership and fiscal prudence, and Persefoni is pleased to continue investing in our Japanese business in concert with this,” said Kentaro Kawamori, CEO and Co-Founder of Persefoni. “Persefoni’s CMAP software significantly reduces complexity, and cuts, by more than half, the time and financial resources required to comply with the mandate.”

An extensive library of more than 3,000 emissions factors required by Japanese companies has been added to the product and is maintained and updated biweekly. Emissions factors covering everything from the transportation of goods from suppliers to the transportation of products to customers have been included from the Santei Hokoku Kohyo 2020 Emission Factor Database to support Japanese users.

“We’re proud to have already welcomed our first Japan-based customers to the platform, which could not have been possible without the hard work of Persefoni teammates and partners the world over…but particularly in Japan,” said Kawamori. “With this product release, we look forward to significantly expanding our commitment to the Japanese market.”

As a global enterprise SaaS solution, this is the first of several non-English languages that the platform will support, with more announcements coming in 2022.
