1. And you may ask yourself, "Well... how did I get here?" (Tell us your journey?)

Back in the day, my dad was a programmer, so I grew up surrounded by "computers" - the kind we laugh at by today's standards, but still, computers everywhere. Back then, I remembered being asked what I wanted to do when I grew up, and I'd answer, "Easy. Design robots!" Well, I'm no robot inventor, but software development ended up getting my attention. When I was 13-years-old, I started writing small video games/applications in Flash, and soon after that I went to college and got my degree in Information Systems Engineering. Since then, I have been writing software every day. Throughout my professional career, I've been fortunate to meet a lot of talented people, and one day Jason Suss (Head of Software Engineering at Persefoni), whom I had worked with at a different company, approached me about Persefoni. Immediately, I was hooked, and I decided to join in the early days of a pandemic ... without knowing I would spend my first six months at Persefoni stranded in New Zealand!

2. And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile. (What do you do at Persefoni?)

As principal software engineer, I'm part of what we in the industry call the "front-end" team. On a daily basis, we marry the concepts created by the design team with all the infrastructure provided by the data team, and build them into user-facing, rich applications. If you click on it or can "see" it, then is probably something our team created. On a more personal level, I also find myself coordinating our highly distributed front-end team, helping balance things so everyone can do their optimal work.

Awesome

3. And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?" (What are your hopes for your time at Persefoni?)

It's easy to let daily (climate) news get you down, but despite it all, I stay positive. I think as a species, we've identified what the problem is and what we need to do to fix it. At Persefoni, we are all working very hard ... pushing our contribution to the "solve" half of the equation. I like it as we see our effort paying off, and I believe in our vision; I would like to see Persefoni remain the leading SaaS solution helping other companies reduce their emissions.

4. And you may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?" (Why is Persefoni a great home for you?)

The philosophy behind what we're building drives my day-to-day motivation. Doing your job is easy, or at minimum easier, when you work on something that's truly meaningful. But I also keep the nerd inside me fed by using cutting-edge technologies. Finally, it is very rewarding working in an environment where you are trusted and your point of view/contributions are always valued. Verbal views/contributions too - not just software. Operating Principle #2, Kentaro! Culturally, this has been one of my best experiences - if not the best.

Argentina

5. And you may find yourself in another part of the world... (Tell us about your life/hobbies away from work?)

I'm from Mendoza, Argentina, a mountainous place south of the equator, closer to Santiago, Chile than Buenos Aires. If you are a football fan, then you already know - or should know - Argentina as the place Lionel Messi is from. Also for wine lovers, we have one of the best Malbecs you could ever try. Here I live with my girlfriend, Mumi; we like spending our free time hanging out with friends and traveling ... especially traveling. COVID has slowed us down, but we look forward to resuming our traveling as things slowly go back to normal. I spend a lot of time in front of a computer, so I have been trying to get myself non-digital hobbies - cooking has become the main one. I'm also a great beer enthusiast, and hopefully one day I'll be able to brew my own. However, I will not deny it: I occasionally play video games. Only one, really, because there's only one that exists for me: Age of Empires.
