A Commitment to Sustainability
A Forbes Cloud 100 Honoree* with nearly 1,000 employees was looking to scale its commitment to sustainability for improved efficiency. The company is trusted by more than 3,500 of the world's top brands and fastest-growing innovators and is purpose-built to reduce power consumption through optimization and automation. This Forbes Cloud 100 Honoree knows from experience the cost of carbon: a single server can take nearly 8000 kWh of power per year, which is the equivalent of nearly six metric tons of carbon dioxide.
The company was previously working with internal teams and external consultants to manually track carbon, which was a time-intensive and tedious process. It engaged Persefoni to continue scaling its sustainability commitment by focusing on increasing visibility at an organizational level through automation. In conjunction with expanding its own internal sustainability team, it integrated sustainability cross-departmentally and accelerated its effort to quantify its full impact.
Scope of the Initial Work
The Forbes Cloud 100 Honoree company has deployed Persefoni to identify its full Scope 1-3 carbon footprint. This involved engaging with multiple stakeholders across the breadth of their cross-functional sustainability team, which leveraged Persefoni templates to gather data from individual contributors, teams, and workspaces worldwide. The company went further, deploying an in-depth survey to collect information on how behaviors have shifted to reflect the new remote workplace; this data will be used to improve granularity and potentially identify future decarbonization strategies.
Not Standing Still
Next steps for this Forbes Cloud 100 Honoree company include leveraging Persefoni for reporting, exploring offsetting opportunities via Persefoni’s partnership with Patch, and using real-time data to begin identifying intelligent, strategic decarbonization strategies. Climate Impact Benchmarking and Climate Trajectory Modeling are two Persefoni modules that will drive additional value to the Persefoni investment.
